For years now, I've been wanting to run a marathon. It was one of those ideas of mine, one of many, that never really came to fruition. Maybe it was my insecurity, maybe it was laziness. But in July, about six years later, I finally decided that I was going to just do it. My cousin recommended I join her and USA Marathon Training. The group is wonderful and the coaches are inspiring, but this has turned out to be one of those things I had to motivate myself to do. It's taken me all summer to plan out my schedules and finally stick to routinely training. Now, less than 3 weeks til the LA Rock & Roll Half Marathon, I'm on the treadmill or running around the neighborhood after work. I'm definitely feeling the pressure and I'm scared as hell. However I've come a long way from just dreaming ideas and, ready or not, I'm running on October 30th!
My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball. We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless.
