Week 21

I've been wanting to go paintballing since high school and I was reminded of my interest in the game when my coworker, Marion, asked me to join a group from work to play. I've been planning to go with them for a while now; I finally was able to go last Sunday. We went to Paintball USA at the Oxnard location where the weather was cooler and I could layer my clothes to pad myself. I can't deny that I was a little scared of being sore, but once we got out on the field a few times, and I eventually felt how it was to be hit, I got a bit braver and enjoyed myself more. We played a few games with over zealous strangers (I have a nasty bruise on my arm from being shot short distance.) until more from our group showed up. Then it became a Northridge Hospital vs West Hills game which was safer. I have to say that I had a pretty good time. If I join Marion and the group again, I definitely need to invest in more padded clothing! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 20

Our little ladybug Nancy is back in town from her trip around the world. She brought us goodies from all over the place including an English Rose tea I can't wait to try and some Kangaroo jerky I'm sorta wary about (cuz kangaroos are too cute to eat) but still curious to taste. We caught up over some comforting BCD and then headed over to Roladin, just like old times, on Wednesday when she came back. But the real treat was our dinner on Thursday at Sugarfish in Studio City. It was the day of their Grand Opening, at the exact same spot the old Sushi Nozawa was. In fact, the old signage is still up. I'm ecstatic that delicious, amazing quality sushi is so much closer to us. It was a little strange to be using my phone in the newly remodeled restaurant, in the presence of the man formerly known as the Sushi Nazi, but sushi wouldn't have been the same without seeing him there. Yay for good times! :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 19

Last Friday we went to a Dodger game to raise money for BHC. There was a great turn out and the Dodgers played the best game I've probably ever seen live! Multiple Home Runs in one game and we were there to witness it! Hurray for our boys in blue! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Happy Mother's Day

I had to call in from work this weekend which worked out because I got to spend some time with the family for Mother's Day. <3 We had lunch at Kabuki in Burbank, where we usually always end up when we don't want Asian buffet. Then we roamed around Santa Monica, the Promenade and the pier. We rarely spend an entire day together anymore. It was nice and I could tell my mom enjoyed herself. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

More Niner's BD

Last Sunday I took Niner to her surprise birthday activity to see the CSUN production of Avenue Q. She's wanted to see Avenue Q even before they opened on Broadway and this was the best we could do at the moment. We were pretty impressed with the show and the student cast. The show was hilarious, and the puppet sex scene was everything I imagined. lol. We later headed over to The Lobster in Santa Monica for dinner. This was another thing we knocked off the list of things we've been wanting to do. The service there was superb. We were there earlier than our reservation time and they were so nice and accommodating. The oysters were fresh as can be and we had one of the best meals. Niner had the lobster and I had the tastiest lobster ravioli. And let's not forget the amazing panoramic view of the pier and the ocean. Days like this I am reminded of how much I love LA and the many different options available to us. Once again, a very happy birthday to my one and only.

Cinco

Happy Cinco de Mayo from Nacho! Had a busy night last night. Celebrated my cousin Sonia Mae's graduation from her BSN program, hung out at the Arnold's for the Mayweather/ Cotto fight (that we actually didn't get to watch since we were preoccupied with all the cute babies in the house, but apparently Justin Beiber was strangely part of Mayweather's entourage), and we celebrated Tamya's 30th birthday at MexiCali/ Rain in Studio City. Here are the little ones whacking the piñata at my cousin's party. By the time Nate got to it, the piñata fell to the ground and the kids went nuts for the candy. Tamya at Rain for her 69th birthday! ;) Work ain't so bad when I have weekends like these to look forward to. :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 18: Niner's Birthday

Celebrated Niner's birthday last night with friends at Fuddruckers in Sherman Oaks. It was the perfect little gathering to catch up with friends for Niner's special day. Then we ended the night with a mini Pizzookie treat. Happy Birthday my fave! It's not over yet! ;) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Joshua Tree

We'd been wanting to visit Joshua Tree National Park for years now. It was great to finally make that detour on the way home from Palm Springs. It turned out that we were there on National Park Week and enjoyed the park for free. We were able to drive through the expanse, seeing endless rows of Joshua Trees, marveling at unexpectedly interesting rock formations and overlooking the view of the desert cities. It was the perfect end to our trip. :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
