Week 35

As fun of an adventure my trip was, nothing compares to the comfort of home. There's so much to be thankful for in just these two creatures. I love my famblie! I'm a lucky girl.

Thai Birthday

Emma spent her birthday in two different countries this year: Thailand and Cambodia. We finished off our stay in Chiang Mai getting $6 foot massages to kick off her birthday. Then we headed to Siem Reap. Come to think of it, we ended her birthday that night with cheap massages again! Lucky Ducks! :)

Week 33

Got to spend more time with my Niner before my trip, whacking some balls at John Wells Golf Driving Range. It's always therapeutic and I think we're getting better at it. :)

Week 32

Teddy got to meet Auntie Cayo.  As sad as the reasons were for our visit to Phoenix that weekend, I'm glad that we were all together. And as there are never the right words to articulate, I'm glad I was there to give her a last kiss on the cheek, support my family and hold my Niner's hand. <3

Fiona Apple

A summer is not memorable without good music. Before the end of our Coachella trip last April, we managed to find a computer to score some tickets to see Fiona Apple. It was meant to be. The Palladium is terribly engineered, but when you have Fiona Apple's sultry voice echoing around you, who cares! She was amazing like the first time we saw her at the Santa Barbara Bowl. I'm glad she sang more from her older albums. So much of it is in the NiBi soundtrack. <3

Chery'ls Bach Weekend

Celebrated Cheryl's Bachelorette Weekend at Santa Barbara on July 20-22.  We, along with Cheryl and her closest girl friends Heather, Rachel and Irma, boarded the Amtrak from DTLA Union Station to Goleta that Friday morning. Being that the ride went along the coast, the views were beautiful. The friends were able to catch up and we able to get to know them.  The weekend was full of surprises for Cheryl and fun for all. We had a fancy dinner by the beach at the Four Season's Hotel. We were taken out by a shuttle for our winery tour through out Santa Barbara County, which included wine tasting at Kalyra where the movie Sideways was filmed. We also had a pajama pizza party, surprised Cheryl with her 50 SOG gifts, and spontaneously got our matching hello kitty bow tattoos to forever remember the special weekend. It was a great time with great women. I'm so happy for Cheryl and even happier for my lil bro Ryan that he found his "more"..

Travelzoo: Las Vegas

Less than a week after spending time with my family in Las Vegas, I played hookie from work and went back on July 15/16 to use our Travelzoo deal. After years of wanderlusting over Travelzoo's bargain trips, we finally purchased one near to home (to play it safe.) and it was amazing! We stayed at the fancy Mirage, had free buffets and free 20 oz. drinks at the pool. It was also the first time Nancy, Mar and I went out of town together. We sure had a grand ol' time. Cheers to many more!

Week 28

I'm probably doing too much if I can't even catch up with weekly posts. But the summer is always busy and fun. So here I am playing catch up... On July 14th we did one of my favorite things to do on a summer evening: watched a movie at the park. We went to the event hosted by Eat See Hear in San Pedro with Ryan, Cheryl, their co-workers, and Humphrey, of course. What was showing? Pee Wee's Playhouse! I had only remembered seeing pieces of the movie when I was little. My brother Jon used to love Pee Wee and, frankly, his voice turned me off (I'm sure I wasn't the only one.) But this time around, it was hilarious. I had no idea how many popular phrases are in that movie. He's so weird its funny. And it didn't hurt my feelings that food trucks were near by ready to serve up enormous korean style burritos and deep fried chicken and waffles.  I love summer nights!

Cambodia

The short flight to Siem Reap was scary and turbulent. First of all, our plane was tiny. Then we flew in dark thunder clouds for most of the flight. By the time we reached Cambodia, we had to stay in the air for at least another 10 min due to the poor weather. Because it didn't improve, we landed anyway. It was like a roller coaster ride the entire flight and even worse so on landing. I'm just glad we are here safely and on to the next exciting part of our trip, and on my cousin, Emma's, birthday! I was most excited about being in Cambodia for this trip. I can't wait for our day tour tomorrow! Good night! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Bangkok!!

Sawadee ka. The start of our trip on Singapore Airlines. I'm on a trip in Asia with my cousins Emma, Richelle, Tina, and her boyfriend Kevin. We were on a long 20+ hour flight including lay overs in Tokyo and Singapore. Needless to say, despite Singapore Airlines' amazing customer service and attentiveness, we were tired and anxious to start our adventure. A Musical toilet in Tokyo complete with a bidet. Our first stop is Bangkok which we added to our initial Groupon deal. And we're glad that we did. We are staying at the Pullman Hotel G in downtown Bangkok. The view of the city is amazing, the hotel is nice, clean and trendy, and the people here are so nice! My first Tom Ka Gai in Thailand. Our guide for tomorrow's set tour, Lee, picked us up at the airport and decided to stay with us for the day today as well. Within just a few hours in Bangkok we've already gotten personally tailored suits and shopped at MBK which is a huge eight-story mall. I h
