Family Vegas Trip

My family took a week long trip to Las Vegas and surrounding areas last week. I was able to join them for the couple days that I was off. Here's Jon and Mama straight to the slots even while Papa was only checking in. I spotted these Aladdin slot machines with the genie looking a lot like hologram Tupac. (Yes this is an important detail to post and remember!) With the ladies before dinner. With my favorite brothers. ;) One thing for sure.. they are entertaining. It's always a good time being on a road trip with these two. We took a break from gambling (Kris too..) to hang out at old town LV and have a late night Pho snack at Chinatown.  Every time I'm at Vegas I want to visit Red Rock Canyon. We finally made it out on this trip and it was beautiful. It was a pretty scenic 13 mi drive around the park. Before I headed back home, we had lunch at Red Rock Hotel and Casino. I ran into my coworker, Yanti, who was also staying at Planet Holl

Week 27

I've been wanting to spend some time with my cousin Richelle for a while now. Since she's been so busy with family life, I've seen her the least. I was glad to have had a chance to finally catch up. We hiked in her hood at Veterans Memorial Park in Sylmar. Marc, visiting from Hawaii, Emma, and little Gavin were with us too. A good portion of the 6 mile hike was at an incline. I took this picture of Gavin when we reached the hill half way up. He was such a trooper, and in his Cars pajamas. He went up those hills like a pro, and with more endurance than some adults we encountered on the hike.  We started the hike around 7 am when it was still foggy. It felt like we were up with the clouds when we reached the top. I was really surprised at how picturesque it was up there!  I'd definitely do that hike again! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Independence Day

Our mini get-a-way to the LBC was perfect. I made time to take a little morning run along the water and pass the Queen Mary. It sure wasn't hard to be motivated having that pretty view! When I got back to the hotel room, Niner and I ordered room service and had our breakfast on the balcony. Then we headed over to the Queen Mary to spend the rest of our day. We roamed the halls, checked out the 4th of July entertainment, visited the ship's museums, marveled at the vintage furniture at the nursery and the captain's quarters, and hung out at the Observation Bar.  Then at dusk, we watched as the impressive firework display fill the sky above us. We were so close; it was so great! It was the best 4th of July (for the both of us) yet! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Happy Birthday Mikie!

Mikie's birthday was on the 26th. We finally got everyone together tonight to celebrate. Niner, Mike, Nancy, Valerie, Pheap, Clarissa and I had dinner at Zahle in North Hollywood. Then we grabbed some treats at Cafe Teramo, ate them at Starbucks, and continued to catch up. It was a cute little evening. Happiest Birthday to our friend! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Hotel Maya

Staying at the Double Tree's Hotel Maya in Long Beach for the holiday. Such a funky place and we got the $5 upgrade with the balcony and the view of the queen Mary! Good pick Niner! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
