LA Lobsterfest

We finally made it to the Lobsterfest in San Pedro! We've been wanting to go for years. We got there early and had the perfect little time. We shared a 2 lobster meal with French roll, cajun potatoes, and cole slaw for $38! It was so good. And we went back for shrimps! Starting our vacation with one fest before heading out to the big one..

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day we repeated what we did last year because it was so awesome. Niner and I went to the fish market together so we could make our own sushi at home. We did a pretty good job! The salmon roe I picked up was also very good! We baked together on Sunday too! Mmm Apple pie! It was wonderful to stay in our cozy home, with our puppy, and not fight the crowds!

Supper Club

For ten months now, a few friends have met up for dinner once a month for what we call the Rice & Beans Supper Club. :) We rotate having someone choose a restaurant for the month. We all get to try something new and guarantee a get together to catch up every month. For our tenth supper club, Marlaina chose to go to Bonano's Chicken, a Peruvian place in Northridge. The location is small but they weren't very busy today and we had a the tiniest supper club turn out to date of four people, so we had no problem being seated. The rotisserie chicken there is so juicy and delicious. They also had an amazing ceviche, probably one of the best I've ever had. Their sauces and spices are also surprisingly good for such a hole in the wall. Here's Richard, Clarissa and I and Marlaina took the picture. Good food, good friends. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 20

Our little ladybug Nancy is back in town from her trip around the world. She brought us goodies from all over the place including an English Rose tea I can't wait to try and some Kangaroo jerky I'm sorta wary about (cuz kangaroos are too cute to eat) but still curious to taste. We caught up over some comforting BCD and then headed over to Roladin, just like old times, on Wednesday when she came back. But the real treat was our dinner on Thursday at Sugarfish in Studio City. It was the day of their Grand Opening, at the exact same spot the old Sushi Nozawa was. In fact, the old signage is still up. I'm ecstatic that delicious, amazing quality sushi is so much closer to us. It was a little strange to be using my phone in the newly remodeled restaurant, in the presence of the man formerly known as the Sushi Nazi, but sushi wouldn't have been the same without seeing him there. Yay for good times! :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Workin' for the Weekend

To celebrate the end of another long stretch at work, Niner and I had a lovely seafood dinner at Gladstones in Malibu and then dessert at Grom Gelateria. There's so much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to. We're so blessed to have what we have. Last night, though a simple night out, was a reminder of that. Now, I can't wait for the rest of the fun in store for us this weekend! Happy Easter weekend! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 13

Spent some quality time with my brothers in Koreatown. We had some KBBQ and had coffe at Iota. The service there was horrible but the coffee was tasty, especially my green tea latte. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 12

After a long work week, it was nice to enjoy a fancy meal at BLT Steak on Sunset. Our friend Richard gathered a few friends for dinner to celebrate his brother, Robin's, graduation from the Police force. Although the main dishes were pretty great (I got the Kobe beef!) we got full pretty quickly on the fun appetizers. They had freshly baked popovers and liver pate for the table, and that double bacon topped with chimichurri was ridiculously delicious. The night sure did kick off a weekend of yummy food with friends and family. This is the reason why I work hard! Bring on another busy work week! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

dineLA

A few weeks ago Niner, Nancy and I took advantage of dineLA. We started with lunch at Tra di Noi in Malibu, a long with Nancy's friend Lalo. The pizza appetizer with truffle sauce that Nancy ordered for appetizer was the best part of that meal. Niner had the filet of sol which was tasty as well. I got the pasta dish and then a marzipan dessert topped with almond sauce which sounded interesting at first, but probably confirmed that I am not a fan of marzipan at all. The following day we had dinner with Nancy's friend, Gina, at Fogo de Chao in Beverly Hills. Fogo de Chao is great but it is so pricey considering the handful of pretty amazing churrascarias in LA. Their lamb, top sirloin and filet mignon were delicious though, and this place has become a dineLA favorite for me because of the papaya cream dessert. It wasn't part of the dineLA menu, but they were kind enough to make the substitution. Gina, Nancy, Niner, and I For Week 2, Day 1 of dineLA, we went to...

Pura Vida

As my vacation comes to an end, I have still managed to squeeze in quality time with some of my fave people. I spent the evening with my little brother, Kris, last night. We each enjoyed a bowl of ramen at Daikokuya in Little Tokyo and shared a crepe loaded with red bean paste, mochi, and green tea gelato from Four Leaf Tea Room . Today Nacho and I made an impromptu trip to the Grilled Cheese Truck and delivered some cheesy goodness to Jessica then Marlaina at work. Glad I was able to see my Ninee in the middle of the day (Tuesday is her long day at work then school til 10:30pm). I am now sitting at the Starbucks in Sherman Oaks after spending a little time with Mikie before he heads back to SD. Also waiting for Valerie and a long over due catch-up session. This is a good time to share a few pictures from our trip to Mazatlan, which was the amazing, relaxing trip we had hoped for. We were very lucky to have been able to stay at Marlaina's parents' timeshare which...
