Portlandia Day 3-5

Day 3 On our third day in Portland we headed back downtown, walked along the waterfront, and checked out the Saturday Market. We met up with Mikie again, had lunch at Bijou Cafe, and roamed the Saturday Market. Local artists displayed their creations and we saw some of Portland's talented as well as their "weird" performing on the streets. That evening, after Niner and Shkrimpy dealt with much drama to get the keg, we had a party at Shkrimpy and Skotty's house. We met some of their friends, hung out at their large back yard, had taco's, and everybody helped empty the full keg of Rolling Rock. Niner cooked the best taco's ever (I'm not the only one who thought so.). We concluded that it must have had something to do with grilling the chicken on Shalanna's friend's seasoned grill! Everyone worked on the 15 gallon keg all night, but unfortunately the rest of it had to go down the drain.. Week 26

Happy Birthday Coen!! Coen is Pheap's nephew and look alike. We went over to Val and Pheap's pad on Wednesday to celebrate this cute little guy's birthday. He loves his monster trucks and that was all he got for gifts, and he was fine with that! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Week 25

Celebrated Raha's 36th birthday last Friday at their house. Due to LA traffic, her surprise didn't quite happen the way Ed had planned, but she was still surprised her friends came to spend her birthday with her. Here's Raha with her beautiful family (and baby Shiny eyeing the cake!). Happy Birthday!

Portlandia Anniversary

On June 14, Niner and I celebrated 10 years of being together. She made a reservation for us at the Portland City Grill in Old Town Portland. I have to say that it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Probably the best service we've ever gotten. First of all, the view up there was beautiful. It was a 360 degree view of the city. Even when we were at the bar waiting for our table, we had a great booth overlooking the Willamette and Portland's many unique bridges. When we got to our table, we had the same beautiful view with snow covered Mt. Hood in the background. And when we got there, our table was decorated with "Happy Anniversary" and heart confetti. Our server was super nice and, coincidentally remembered us from the Long Beach Jet Blue flight that she also took back to Portland. (We almost missed our flight and were the last ones on the plane, that's probably why we were familiar!) The food was delicious and everything was perfect! Our trip to Port

Portlandia Day 2

On our second day in Portland, Shalanna took the day off and we all (Peppy too) went on an adventure to see Portland's beautiful scenic views. It's amazing that in just a short drive, we were out of the city, surrounded by rivers, lush green hills and snow covered Mount Hood looking majestic from a distance. Our first stop was Vista House at Crown Point. The view of the Columbia River there was picturesque and it was the nicest, clearest day. Perfect start for our adventure.  Our cute guides. We then went through the pretty winding roads and stopped at Multnomah Falls. I was amazed that the falls was by the road-side. We didn't have to work to get to it. It almost felt like we were cheating since this was the largest and most epic waterfall I've seen, and I didn't have to hike at all to get there! We did go to a less crowded trail to hike. Again there was a strong waterfall by the road and we hiked up to Horsetail Falls. Horsetail was also a

Portlandia Day 1

Our first day in Portland was action packed. We stayed at Shalanna's "Log Cabin" on our first night in town. We got ready after our wake up call from Peppy. We finished our left over spicy fish sauce chicken wings from Pok Pok Noi to tie us over. It was still as tasty as it was from diner the night before (our first meal in Portland).  Then Niner and I took the bus down to Old Town Portland and had dinner at a cute/ chic French restaurant called Little Bird. We shared the oyster appetizer, Niner had a veggie sandwich and I had their popular Le Pigeon Burger. I also had a Orange Lavender House Soda which was delicious.  We then headed back north to Alberta Arts District. I saw this unfinished Barbie art piece outside a studio which I thought was interesting. We then met up with Mikie who's also in town scoping out Portland as his potential new residence. We met up at Barista, had a vanilla latte as Mikie caught us up on his Portland adventu

Good morning Portlandia!

Good morning from Portlandia with Inspector Pepperson! The last time we were in Portland was four years ago and for a brief day and a half on our way up to Vancouver. We were able to take advantage of no state tax and mostly shopped. Now that Shkrinty and Peppy are in town, they can show us around! We have many things planned already. And Peppy made sure to wake us this morning! :) Hooray to our first summer adventure! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Ryan, RN, BSN

Our Mr. Berry graduated from the University of Phoenix BSN program on Sat. The ceremony was huge and held at the Citizen Bank Arena in Ontario. We're so proud of Ryan! We've practically seen him grow. He's our little brother and it's so great to see him accomplish wonderful things. Congratulations! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Favorite Actor

Niner and I had another Disney adventure before the summer crowds and before our season pass blackout dates. We went on all our favorite rides, had all our favorite treats, and we even met Donald Duck, Niner's favorite actor! ;) We can never go wrong with the happiest place on earth! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Happy Puppy Birthday!

It's little Nachito's birthday!! And he shares this special day with his twin brother Peppy! Here's a pic of the brothers when they were babies just 3 years ago. We love our Nachito so much. He's such a sweet, cuddly, funny boy. <3 - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Kris's Graduation

My baby brother graduated from Van Nuys High School on May 24. It was an evening ceremony with the right amount of pomp and circumstance to move the graduates and cause their families to be emotional, as well. Even Jon was reflecting on just how quickly time had passed as we both simultaneously looked at Papa's graying, thinning head in front of us and Kris in his cap and gown on the field. It's definitely crazy how time has flown by so suddenly these days, but I do prefer and am thankful for happy moments like these to remind me of just how precious and special life is. :) Our Graduate!!   Today, Jon and I taught Kris how to drive around the neighborhood and I helped him register for his first semester of college. Graduation was definitely a huge milestone, but I can't wait to see what's in store for him from here on. The end of high school may mean the true end of childhood and the beginning of responsible adulthood. Friends maybe

Greg Laswell

Went back to the El Rey last night for Greg Laswell. I love, love that venue. We spent a little more time at dinner at Geisha House than expected, walked into the theatre later and still managed to take our same spot on the right front! It's the perfect size place for an intimate show and the acoustics in there are great! Elizabeth and the Catapult opened and she has a beautiful voice. She stayed to play the keyboard and sing duets with Greg Laswell through most of the show. Greg had a full set up with drums, guitar, bass and a cello! It was an amazing show! He sang all our favorites. His wifey Ingrid Michaelson came on stage to sing Landline with him. I know this is more than one pic for the week, but take your pick of the three! It was a great night! I didn't think I'd crave live music this soon after Coachella. I want more! :) - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
