Rock'n'Roll LA Half Marathon

On October 30th, I ran my first half marathon. It was a lot of fun, especially since it was downtown. We started out at LA Live, circled around USC, passed through Little Tokyo, went through the tunnel and slightly up an incline onto the 6th street bridge. With several bands playing on stages through out the route, random volunteer groups and schools cheering us on along the way, and some runners dressed up in their halloween costumes, there was never a dull moment.

The day before we checked in and picked up our registration packets and goodies at the Convention Center. We were also able to pick up last minute marathon essentials.

That night Niner treated me to my pre-marathon meal of delicious sushi from Cho Cho San as we caught up with our favorite "How I Met Your Mother." Nacho was pretty helpful at helping me relax and soothe my sensitive knee, as well.

Early on October 30th, Niner and I hopped on the train from NoHo to DTLA. I met up with the USMT group and then we were off.

Niner found me running through the 6-mile mark and I was able to take pictures from my phone during the rest of the run. A few of us were injured at the last couple miles; my knee was in so much pain it was almost unbearable to pick up my leg to run. We walked most of the couple miles, but at the end, I mustered enough strength to sprint through the finish. It was so much fun and so exhilarating to have finally completed my first run that my knee didn't even bother me until the next day!

I took my victory picture at the finish, we got our medals, and I got a whole lot of protein after as reward! Niner and I had some Umami Burger and she made her yummy ribs that evening for dinner.

If my knee wasn't still intermittently an issue, I'd be running again already. But I must rest up so I can appropriately prepare for many more half marathons in the future!

Yes, I am now addicted! <3

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. It was lovely to get away for the weekend and we did so much! Can't wait for baseball season to start! We got a mini season plan t

Memorial Day

At the Memorial Day Dodgers game with my love to end a lovely calm weekend. Thanks to those who have served and sacrificed for us, especially my Niner. <3

50 in Five

We've been busy over here, planning our epic road trip to all 50 states. We are quitting our jobs, packing away our stuff, and leaving in just less than TWO weeks! It's the trip we've always dreamed of. It feels so right.  We asked my cousin at Lizzi Photography to take photos at our favorite local park to document this moment. It's so special because she knows me so well and knew my vision. Plus we've never had engagement photos done. We also used props we love and that have a story: a blanket Nan crocheted Niner, Auntie Cayo's cameras, my vintage suitcase called Bomanicious..      It was hard to choose, but here are some of my faves.    Unfortunately, Nacho will not be joining us on our trip. Lucky for us, Moo has agreed to keep him for the five months; and he will have the best time there with his friend Teddy. Still, he couldn't help but join in on the fun and take photos with us! We are at 50infive.us  if you want to
