Christmas 2011 Recap

Since the New Year has gifted me with a cold and conjunctivitis, among other things.. I will take this time to catch up on the holiday events 2011..

We had a holiday potluck and White Elephant gift exchange at work. Since it we rarely get together, it was nice to be hanging out, even if it was just at our lounge. Everyone from left to right: JB, Tyra, Corinne, Vicky, Ron, Brian, Joy, Me, Eun, Lisa, Jennifer, Arlene, Michelle, Carrie, and Tess. :)

In High School my girl friends and I called ourselves the Ghetto Girls. According to Marlaina, one of our classmates called the area where we hung out "the ghetto," and from that, the title was born. (For the record, there was nothing ghetto about our spot, nor was there anything ghetto about us. Pretty funny if you ask me.) This year we celebrated Ghetto Christmas for the first time in 8 years.

We were able to catch up over a delicious dinner at Kate Mantili in Woodland Hills.

Then we headed back to our house to decorate our gingerbread men. As you can probably tell, we spent most of the night adding very detailed accessories to our men.

We also had our White Elephant gift exchange. Surprisingly there was a little bit of stealing gifts considering there are only 5 of us. :)

Here we are with our gifties and our honorary guest.

The official Ghetto Girl Christmas picture 2011. <3

After I spent Mama's birthday at Vegas, I headed over to Auntie Cayo's in Phoenix where we had a cute little Christmas.

And we had a yummy meal. Here's Niner's trout, cooked on a cedar plank and Auntie Cayo made an amazing stuffed banana squash that I need to prepare one day.

We were able to take advantage of our year pass and spend some time walking through the pretty Botanical Garden.

And Niner and I made another trip to small Flagstaff which we just adore.
We ran into some snow on the way up!

We roamed the town.

The Weatherford Hotel was counting down to their pine cone drop for the New Year.

We ended the night with dinner at the Lumberyard where Niner enjoyed some local brews.

Once again, I am a lucky girl to have spent the holidays with so many special people and doing the things I love. :)

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. It was lovely to get away for the weekend and we did so much! Can't wait for baseball season to start! We got a mini season plan t...

Memorial Day

At the Memorial Day Dodgers game with my love to end a lovely calm weekend. Thanks to those who have served and sacrificed for us, especially my Niner. <3

La Banquise, Montreal

La Banquise Rating: πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ πŸ“994 Rue Rachel E MontrΓ©al, QC H2J 2J3 Canada πŸ“ž  (514) 525-2415 Visit: May 6, 2018 Poutine is pretty much anywhere and everywhere in Montreal. Sometimes when you have too many options, it becomes difficult to make decisions (at least that's how it works with me). We chose this place because of the amount of reviews on Yelp.. and it was only A-OK. However, that may be our fault for ordering the "plainer" option. The grand size of "Taquise" seemed like the perfect choice for us. It was topped with tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. We probably should have ordered something with lots of meat and gravy, something packed with flavor. But then, I can also argue that anything with guacamole should be amazing. So I give this place a 3/5 rating, but it is worth going back to, especially since they're open 24/7! Make sure you use your google translate and get in the correct line: dine in or take out. There's a line of peop...
