FiftyTwo: Week 1

Inspired by the various photo challenges out there, including my friend Cheryl's Thankful: 2012 Facebook album and my cousin's Project 52 at lizziloves, I will be posting my favorite picture every Friday (a day late this week). Many of my goals this year seem to be centered around being "happy," so that is what I have chosen as my theme. Like most people, I am in search of those things that make me happy. Travel makes me happy, for example, and if I could, I would even visit the littlest village, in the most remote parts of a country. If given the time, I would read every book that ever existed. And if given the ability I would play every piece of music that was ever written. I am limited in time and resources, of course. However, this year, I am going to begin to make a habit of finding those places where happiness dwells. I will find it in the big things, and even in the small things, starting with those that surround me. With that said this first picture (Yes, I have two just this once?) of my baby brother Kris and his girlfriend Jessica make me happy. I took them to Paradise Cove this past Wednesday. There's something in the newness of young love that is wonderful and makes me smile...

Another thing to remember is that I am already so very lucky to be surrounded by love and happiness. While I try to go to all ends searching for happiness, I need to keep myself grounded and I need to remember why I am the way I am and how I have become so lucky to have the options that I do. A lot of that I owe to Niner. After spending the day at Disneyland on Tuesday, which according to Niner was the best day of the year so far, we had late dinner at Wokcano. Niner had a few drinks and walked out of the restaurant with her napkin. :) This picture is classic Niner and makes me giggle a little every time I think about it.
Even in the saddest, most difficult day, there is a light that shines that still makes us thankful that we are alive. I want to remain positive this year and remember to always look for that bright side. Just thinking of all the awesome things the year will bring makes me happy! :D

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. It was lovely to get away for the weekend and we did so much! Can't wait for baseball season to start! We got a mini season plan t...

Memorial Day

At the Memorial Day Dodgers game with my love to end a lovely calm weekend. Thanks to those who have served and sacrificed for us, especially my Niner. <3

La Banquise, Montreal

La Banquise Rating: πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ πŸ“994 Rue Rachel E MontrΓ©al, QC H2J 2J3 Canada πŸ“ž  (514) 525-2415 Visit: May 6, 2018 Poutine is pretty much anywhere and everywhere in Montreal. Sometimes when you have too many options, it becomes difficult to make decisions (at least that's how it works with me). We chose this place because of the amount of reviews on Yelp.. and it was only A-OK. However, that may be our fault for ordering the "plainer" option. The grand size of "Taquise" seemed like the perfect choice for us. It was topped with tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. We probably should have ordered something with lots of meat and gravy, something packed with flavor. But then, I can also argue that anything with guacamole should be amazing. So I give this place a 3/5 rating, but it is worth going back to, especially since they're open 24/7! Make sure you use your google translate and get in the correct line: dine in or take out. There's a line of peop...
