Week 27

I've been wanting to spend some time with my cousin Richelle for a while now. Since she's been so busy with family life, I've seen her the least. I was glad to have had a chance to finally catch up.


We hiked in her hood at Veterans Memorial Park in Sylmar. Marc, visiting from Hawaii, Emma, and little Gavin were with us too. A good portion of the 6 mile hike was at an incline. I took this picture of Gavin when we reached the hill half way up. He was such a trooper, and in his Cars pajamas. He went up those hills like a pro, and with more endurance than some adults we encountered on the hike. 

We started the hike around 7 am when it was still foggy. It felt like we were up with the clouds when we reached the top. I was really surprised at how picturesque it was up there! 

I'd definitely do that hike again!

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. Memorial Day

Connecticut!

It's been awhile! We moved to Connecticut so Niner can go to grad school! We've been here for almost 2 months.  So far it's snowed on us four times. Those Nor-Easters were apparently bad this year and lasted until March and April which is not typical. Now it's just raining a lot. We went to one hike at a cool park just down the street from our tiny apartment. There are cherry blossoms everywhere and we found a cute park in New Haven where they were especially abundant. Of course my allergies are acting up. We went to Montreal last week for 3 days which I hope to post about soon. Nacho has been sick since our trip and his stay at the pet hotel. We're in the process of nursing him and his sensitive belly back to normal.  So far it's been different. Mostly we've been applying for jobs. Not much luck yet.
