I'm on my Spain-Portugal- Morocco trip with my cousins Emma, Tina and our friend Len.
Our first stop, Madrid. So far I've found the people to be friendly and I love that we have been getting by well enough with our broken Spanish.
The first thing we did was head to town to get some Paella, Tapas and Sangria.

Next on the list was getting our shopping at La Plaza de Mayor. We hadn't been in Madrid a full day, nor had we started sightseeing, and we already picked up some souvenirs.

El Mercado de San Miguel also had plenty for us to taste.
Had the best fresh mango juice there. Our second night we went back for fresh seafood tapas at the bar.

We had some cured jamón as well. I'm super excited that they had some in sealed packages to take home!
On Day 2 in Madrid, we toured outside of Madrid, through La Mancha which is made famous by Cervante's Don Quixote, and to the old walled city of Toledo.

Our introduction to Toledo was the panoramic view of the city which was so beautiful. The city was small but showed so much of Spanish history and art.

We walked through narrow cobbled streets and saw El Greco's famous painting in the church of Santo Tome.

We also visited Spain's main cathedral in Toledo. It always amazes me how beautiful and spectacular these cathedrals are.

When we went back to Madrid, we tried the city's favorite calamari sandwich before heading for a city tour.

We were taken on a panoramic drive via Avenida Mayor to Puerta del Sol, Parliament Square, and the Royal Palace.

We stopped at the Plaza del Toro where the bull fights are held. unfortunately we missed the season for the sport. Later, we took advantage of the free evening museum passes.

The Museo del Prado had the famous Las Meninas by Velázquez.

We saw some Picasso and my favorite Dalí at the Reina Sofía.

We spent our last night in Madrid roaming La Plaza de Mayor again. We were able to get around by metro or bus which was convenient once we figured it out.
Our first stop was already packed with all sorts of adventure. We're already tired but can't wait to see more on this trip!

I ordered delicious gourmet olives.

Check out this fancy crown and this large pipe organ with Spanish trumpets.
