Yosemite Summer Camping Trip

Niner and I went camping together in Yosemite for the first time. I remember how in awe I was of the place when I was a kid and I appreciate it even more this time as an adult.
This was the sunset as we were leaving Rosamond and headed to Bishop Thursday evening.
We grabbed a quick breakfast at Erick Schat's Bakkery before heading out.
These ducks greeted us at June Lake. We went around that loop and stopped at Grant Lake and passed through other tiny lakes in the area.
These tufa rock formations at Mono Lake were the most interesting to see and learn about.
On the way to our camp site we marvelled at the scenery at Tuolomne Meadows.
As we got closer to Yosemite Valley, the view got even more amazing. We drove along Lake Tenaya and made a stop at Olmstead Point for our first glimpse of Half Dome.
Finally we made it to our camp site at Crane Flat. Niner cooked our traditional first camp meal of cedar planked salmon. I helped with the cooking (heating) the white beans in our new, snazzy, portable stove.

Saturday was packed starting with a hike to Mirror Lake to see the sunrise.
Then we went to Curry Village to rent rafts. We rafted down the Merced River on our own which had the best views! We took our time floating through the different Yosemite Valley villages. It was so much fun!

Sunday we had brunch at the fancy, Ahwanee Lodge/Hotel and wandered around the different trail heads just behind the hotel. We also went as far as we could hike towards the base of Vernal Falls.

Monday, we ditched the disappointingly boring and pointless Ansel Adams walking tour and did a last easy hike to Yosemite Falls.
On our way back home, we stopped for the second time at the Tunnel View Overlook to take in all the majestic natural beauty one more time.
Such a fun trip! I've had to remind myself how much there is to see of the US. Another road trip like this needs to happen again soon! <3

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. It was lovely to get away for the weekend and we did so much! Can't wait for baseball season to start! We got a mini season plan t

Memorial Day

At the Memorial Day Dodgers game with my love to end a lovely calm weekend. Thanks to those who have served and sacrificed for us, especially my Niner. <3

50 in Five

We've been busy over here, planning our epic road trip to all 50 states. We are quitting our jobs, packing away our stuff, and leaving in just less than TWO weeks! It's the trip we've always dreamed of. It feels so right.  We asked my cousin at Lizzi Photography to take photos at our favorite local park to document this moment. It's so special because she knows me so well and knew my vision. Plus we've never had engagement photos done. We also used props we love and that have a story: a blanket Nan crocheted Niner, Auntie Cayo's cameras, my vintage suitcase called Bomanicious..      It was hard to choose, but here are some of my faves.    Unfortunately, Nacho will not be joining us on our trip. Lucky for us, Moo has agreed to keep him for the five months; and he will have the best time there with his friend Teddy. Still, he couldn't help but join in on the fun and take photos with us! We are at 50infive.us  if you want to
