Since the days were shorter and we didn't have much daylight to work with, we decided to head straight to Rhode Island instead of taking the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. We made a stop at Newport just in time to see a magnificent view from the cliff side off of Ruggles Street. The sky was a deep pink and an indigo we've never seen before. It was a lovely walk. The drive through the neighborhoods were impressive as well. The houses in Newport were mansions.
Still talking about that beautiful view, we checked out downtown for dinner at Brick Alley Pub. The lobster Mac n Cheese was delicious!
That evening we stayed at Providence. We should have gone out that evening because everywhere we wanted to eat was closed on Monday morning.
We did find our way down their Little Italy. We were in luck because Cafe Dolce Vita was the only place open that serve breakfast: $2.99 for two eggs, house fries and toast.. You can't beat that!
Before we left town we drove around to see the city by car. We also looked for Del's Lemonades which ended up being closed as well!
We did get another classic Rhode Island treat at Newport Creamery just before leaving Rhode Island. They call a milk shake flavored with coffee syrup a cabinet and it is so delicious! That and a rainbow colored "crazy" vanilla and coffee chocolate fudge sundae were just the treats we needed!

Just before we left Rhode Island we found a pond off the side of the rode. This was the first time we really felt like we were experiencing a New England fall.
Glad we got a taste of Rhode Island! ;)
