New York tempted us back for a visit with a Björk exhibit at the MoMa. The exhibit was amazing, and the trip was just as memorable. The last time we were in NYC was pre-Yelp, Pinterest, and Instagram; before we had the tools to easily guide us. We did everything we wanted, ate everything and walked everywhere. We had the best time!
Shake Shack was our first meal.
Art installation at one of the entrances at Central Park. Spools of rope equivalent in length to special paths inside the park.
Central Park sunset and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Got in the long line for this cronut at Dominique Ansel Bakery.
Freedom tower from 9-11 Memorial.
We listened to Lianne La Havas as we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Strawberry Fields
Roamed around the park..
Found a small Shakespeare garden..
and Belvedere Castle
Went back across to Brooklyn/ Williamsburg for Smorgasburg, a street food market.
Joined a crowd of people outside to try see Manhattanhenge, a phenomenon where the sunset aligns perfectly with the grid of some of the streets in Manhattan. There were too many clouds for this to be visible but it was fun to be there for the event.
Even with the multiple times Niner's been to NYC, she'd never been on top of the Empire State Building. We made that happen.
The reason for the trip was to see Björk's exhibit. It was everything..
Time Square
The bleeding hearts street art we found after eating at Lombardi's pizza.
We went back for an afternoon visit to Dominique Ansel's Bakery for the cookie shot and an amazing toasted marshmallow with chocolate and ice cream in the middle.
It so happened that Rayson was in NYC as well. He introduced us to the Halal Guys.
Despite the rain, we managed to get this delicious Momofuku cereal milk soft serve with corn flake crunch. I'm definitely going back for this!
Glad we were able to visit FAO Schwartz and play with the "Big" piano before they close forever.
We had the most amazing Michelin dinner at Le Bernadin. That wagyu beef.. new last meal option!
Our last day, we managed to squeeze in a Katz Deli pastrami sandwhich.
We also got to visit the oldest bar in NYC where they served only two types of beer: light and dark.
What did I say.. amazing trip right?!
See a separate post on the Björk exhibit.
