Raytoberfest

Just came home from a week in Munich for Ryan's 33rd birthday. He's celebrated the last few years at Oktoberfest in Alpine Village, Torrance. This year, we did the real thing!
It was more than we expected for sure. It was a huge carnival for adults! Compared to the one beer tent that we're used to, there were several large tents, each with a theme and sponsored Bavarian beer. We dressed in dirndls and lederhosen, ate pretzels, pork knuckle, bratwursts, and strudels, rode bumper cars while buzzed, and drank lots of bier (me more than usual).
Vi Vadi Hotel was conveniently a few blocks from Oktoberfest. We were also not too far from the city center. We walked around Marienplatz, the main square. Saw a bit of the outdoor market, Viktualienmarkt, mesmerized by the surfers in the river at  Englischer Garten, and had good coffee at Man versus Machine.
We even made time to leave the city a couple days. We visited the oldest working brewery in the world, Weihenstephan. It was difficult to get there and we didn't make it to the tour, but the beer and food at the restaurant was worth it. We did a castle tour to Linderhof and Neuschwantein castles, as well as visit whimsical Oberammergau village where we had delicious hazelnut ice cream.
A short yet memorable trip to München. Another thing to check off the bucket list!
Auf Wiedersehen!

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. It was lovely to get away for the weekend and we did so much! Can't wait for baseball season to start! We got a mini season plan t...

Memorial Day

At the Memorial Day Dodgers game with my love to end a lovely calm weekend. Thanks to those who have served and sacrificed for us, especially my Niner. <3

Connecticut!

It's been awhile! We moved to Connecticut so Niner can go to grad school! We've been here for almost 2 months.  So far it's snowed on us four times. Those Nor-Easters were apparently bad this year and lasted until March and April which is not typical. Now it's just raining a lot. We went to one hike at a cool park just down the street from our tiny apartment. There are cherry blossoms everywhere and we found a cute park in New Haven where they were especially abundant. Of course my allergies are acting up. We went to Montreal last week for 3 days which I hope to post about soon. Nacho has been sick since our trip and his stay at the pet hotel. We're in the process of nursing him and his sensitive belly back to normal.  So far it's been different. Mostly we've been applying for jobs. Not much luck yet. As Niner put it, they don't know how awesome we are. The lady who approved us for our apartment at least thought we were great enough to give us a un...
