Spring Training

Heading home from our fourth Dodgers Spring Training in Arizona. Last minute, we left Thursday evening to get a head start. We stayed in Tucson which made us a bit closer to Chiricahua National Monument for a hike.
Saturday and Sunday were spent in Phoenix. We checked out a new Cactus League stadium on Satuday, as we often do, to see the Mariners in Peoria. Unlike the Dodgers stadium, they are surrounded by restaurants and shopping. It was convenient as I need to feed myself quite frequently. The same day we were at Camelback Ranch for an evening game against the White Sox. Sunday's game was back at our home stadium with the Cincinnati Reds. Niner did a great job of choosing comfy, shady seats each time. And I love how small the stadiums are that you can see so well wherever you sit. Always a good time with our boys in blue!

Each Spring Training is always a little different.

LODGING
Red Roof Inn, Tucson: We did a same day reservation via Priceline's express deal. For $58 on Thursday night, it was perfect. It was off the freeway and no hassle to check in at 3:30am. The place was old, the cabinet was falling apart, and the bed was hard, but the pillow was nice. Considering we only stayed for a few hours, it did the job.
America's Best Value Inn, Downtown Phoenix: This was the third time we stayed at this hotel for Spring Training. The object of this trip is to watch some baseball, so this place has been good enough. The people are nice, the location is central, and every time we come back to Phoenix, we always discover a new developing area. I have to say that the shower is not that great, I think they have hard water, and you probably want to bring your own towels. However during this time of year and for the location, it was a value.

EATS
Cracker Barrel,Tucson: It was my first time at one, so we had to. I was impressed with the store/ gift shop. Not so much with my breakfast, but it was cheap!
La Santisima, Glendale: Good Mexican food and colorful, fun interior. Their complementary salad bar was great!
Osaka Japanese Steakhouse, Peoria: It was nice that they had a cucumber wrapped roll since I'm currently attempting a Whole 30 diet.
The Duce, Phoenix: This place was lots of fun! I highly recommended a visit when in downtown Phoenix. They serve food from an Airstream trailer at their patio. There are two bars, games, and a boxing ring. There's cute stuff at their store too. It looks like they often have events happening there. They had an egg hunt, as we were there Easter Sunday.

OUTDOORS
Chiricahua National Monument: Since we didn't have any Dodgers games to go to on Friday, we traveled about 2 hours east of Tucson for a hike. The scenic route was closed and we didn't have much light left, so we weren't able to see any of the amazing balancing rocks up close. However we hiked a long Rhyolite canyon and some of Balancing Rock trail enough to see some impressive rock formations from a distance. We definitely would love to come back here again.

Another successful Spring Training weekend!

Spring Training

My little family went on vacation this past weekend. Nacho visited his friends at Petsmart and Niner and I went to our third Spring Training in Phoenix. Our first game on Saturday was against the Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. There was a lot of action near the end when the Indians caught up and tied the game. There was a Mister Softee soft serve truck and Niner tried a Guinness Blondie at the beer cart. That is a nice ballpark and we had a cute time. I even got Ethier's autograph on our Cactus League ball.    We had time for a nice hike and dinner after the game. Niner introduced me to Native American fry bread which was delicious. Sunday we started off with a nice brunch at Province downtown. The game was at the Dodgers' (and white Sox) Camelback Ranch. It was a hot, sunny day, but fun nevertheless. It was lovely to get away for the weekend and we did so much! Can't wait for baseball season to start! We got a mini season plan t

Memorial Day

At the Memorial Day Dodgers game with my love to end a lovely calm weekend. Thanks to those who have served and sacrificed for us, especially my Niner. <3

50 in Five

We've been busy over here, planning our epic road trip to all 50 states. We are quitting our jobs, packing away our stuff, and leaving in just less than TWO weeks! It's the trip we've always dreamed of. It feels so right.  We asked my cousin at Lizzi Photography to take photos at our favorite local park to document this moment. It's so special because she knows me so well and knew my vision. Plus we've never had engagement photos done. We also used props we love and that have a story: a blanket Nan crocheted Niner, Auntie Cayo's cameras, my vintage suitcase called Bomanicious..      It was hard to choose, but here are some of my faves.    Unfortunately, Nacho will not be joining us on our trip. Lucky for us, Moo has agreed to keep him for the five months; and he will have the best time there with his friend Teddy. Still, he couldn't help but join in on the fun and take photos with us! We are at 50infive.us  if you want to
